Welcoming Students Back to RLT!

Virtual and in person classes to look forward to this spring Photo by Megan Farrell

Free of worries and stress.

These are some of the ways students in our virtual classes responded when asked how they felt in their RLT class this year. When we first shifted our education programming online, we had no idea how long this would last, or how theatre education would happen virtually. These words represent exactly what we want each student to experience in our programs. Virtual learning has not only kept us connected this year, but it has also helped new students engage with our programs. We’re so grateful for all the students who joined us for a virtual class this year, and we can’t wait to see more of you soon.

With that, we are excited to announce that Session 4 classes include both virtual and in-person learning opportunities for youth and adults. Raleigh Little Theatre has taken several steps towards reopening the building to audiences at the end of 2020 and we are looking forward to more in person experiences in 2021, while prioritizing health and safety of our community. Read more about our reopening procedures

All in person classes will have a maximum of 10 students in each class. Students, teaching artists and staff are required to wear masks while at RLT, and classes will take place in spaces that allow students to spread out. Students and teaching artists will have their temperatures checked upon arrival to RLT.

More information about our class-specific safety precautions will be available as we get closer to the start of the session. Please feel free to contact us with any questions about our protocols at

Classes for Youth

Our class schedule for the session continues virtual learning during the week with in person classes for youth on Saturdays. We invite you to join us for weekly creativity and collaboration in the way that works best for you! Registration is open for weekly classes this spring for age 4 through grade 8, including:

Our virtual classrooms will get creative with Scriptworks (Gr 3-5), Drama Quest (Gr 1-3) and Intro to Stage Makeup (Gr 6-8)!

On Saturdays, we will welcome students back to RLT in person with the following classes:

  • Story Drama (PK-K)
  • Creative Drama (Gr 1-2)
  • Actor’s Toolbox (Gr 3-5)
  • Middle School Ensemble: Audition Techniques (Gr 6-8)

Youth in elementary grades can also spend spring break with Raleigh Little Theatre with half day in-person camps and virtual classes the week of March 29-April 2.

All youth classes are open to all experience levels and abilities. A reminder that we also offer scholarship opportunities if cost is a barrier for you or someone you know. View our full class catalog.

Classes for Adults

Adult classes will also resume in person, while continuing virtual learning opportunities throughout the spring. Our spring line up for adults includes:

  • Beginning Actor’s Studio In Person at RLT with Jess Barbour - This class is designed for adults who want to give acting a try, or revisit the basics in order to improve their technique!
  • FUNdamentals of Improv In Person at RLT with Amy Pridgen - Need more creativity, spontaneity, laughter and fun in your life? Then it’s time to get out of your head and join this basic improv class!
  • Virtual Readers Theatre Scene Study (age 55+) with Kathleen Rudolph - Readers Theatre is a style of theatre in which actors do not need to memorize their lines in order to tell a story. In this virtual class, students will explore scene work, creating and developing characters, and learning how to successfully collaborate with a scene partner.

As always, feel free to contact us at with any questions about choosing a class or what to expect.
