Summer is Here!

Camps for youth at RLT and in the local community

We are so excited to officially kick off summer this week as we welcome students back to RLT for in person summer camps! Because we are operating our camps at a reduced capacity this summer, many of them filled up quickly. But there are still a handful of opportunities left we wanted to make sure you knew about, and also several exciting offerings in arts camps in our community.

Our summer movies in the garden series is also back this year, and we’re kicking things off with Sing! on July 8th. Tickets are pay what you can and are on sale today at noon!

Available RLT Summer Camps

Our summer camp programming is almost completely full, but if your student is age 4-rising K or a rising 10th-12th grader we have a few spots left in the following camps:

High School Intensive (Gr 10-12): Exploring the Black Theatre Canon / Audition Skills (August 9-13)

A one week, in-depth experience for teens focused on specific areas of theatre. In Exploring the Black Theatre Canon (with instructor JaMeeka Holloway), students will build their knowledge of Black playwrights and actively explore their works. In Audition Skills (with instructor April Perry), students will build skills and confidence for the unique challenges of auditions.

Playtime PM (age 4-K): Creative Creatures (August 16-20, 1-4pm) - 1 spot left!

A half-day camp exploring stories through creative drama, art and movement. Students discover stories and characters in a different theme. Through their dramaexploration, students also practice listening skills, working together, story sequencing and build social skills.

Arts Summer Camps in the Community

If you are still looking for a way for your student to learn and grow creatively this summer, check out one of these camps from other organizations in the community:

Justice Theater Project has openings in their youth theater day camps for grades 2 - 9. Weeks of July 12, 19, and 26. Led by professional theater instructors, with a bilingual camp manager. Located just down from the Angus Barn on Glenwood Ave. in Raleigh.

Join Artspace for their 32nd year of hands-on summer camps! Students in rising grades 3–12, will learn tricks, tips and techniques from professional artists in fun and creative week-long classes.

Womens’ Theatre Festival and Seed Art Share are pleased to present WTFamily 21: Virtual Theatre camps for kids (ages 7–11) and teens (ages 12–17).

Pure Life Theatre and Seed Art Share are offering two camps this summer: The Lion King Kids Camp and Into the Woods Jr. 10th-12th grade students can also participate in a FREE Internship Learning Program where they will learn audition prep, receive hands-on actor training, and will participate on the production teams of our Kids and Jr. camps.

North Carolina Theatre’s Broadway Bootcamp for 8-18 year olds combines musical theatre training in singing, dance, and drama with rehearsing selections from Disney's The Little Mermaid (July 19-July 30th) and Disney's High School Musical (Aug. 2-Aug. 13th).
