Hands on a Hardbody opens Friday!RLT’s season-closing musical, Hands on a Hardbody, opens this Friday, June 2, and you won’t want to miss it! About the show: For 10 hard-luck Texans, a new lease on life is so close they can touch it. Under a scorching sun for days on end, armed with nothing but hope, humor and ambition, they’ll fight to keep at least one hand on a brand-new truck in order to win it. In the hilarious, hard-fought contest that is Hands on a Hardbody, only one winner can drive away with the American Dream. This roots-rock musical had its Broadway premiere 10 years ago and was nominated for three Tony Awards and nine Drama Desk Awards. It features music by Phish’s Trey Anastasio and is inspired by the true events of the acclaimed 1997 documentary of the same name by S.R. Bindler, produced by Kevin Morris and Bindler. Director/Choreographer Brian Westbrook and RLT Executive Director Heather Strickland recently spoke with Wayne Leonard on WHUP’s Lights Up about the show. Check the WHUP website tomorrow for an archive clip of the interview (May 31 show, interview begins around the 30 minute mark). See the truck in action: Check out this dress rehearsal clip on our Instagram! Hands on a Hardbody runs June 2-18, with showtimes at 8:00pm Thursdays-Saturdays, and matinee performances at 3:00pm on Sundays. Runtime is approximately 2.5 hours, including one intermission. The content of this show is best suited for ages 12+. Head to our website to purchase your tickets now! |
