“Looking for Roberto Clemente” is a home run! |

Roberto Clemente opens on Saturday!Take me out to the… theatre! Looking for Roberto Clemente, a Family Series musical, opens this Saturday in our beautiful outdoor amphitheatre. About the Show In this lively musical, the year is 1972. The place is Pittsburgh, and legendary baseball player Roberto Clemente is at the top of his game. Sam Kowalski and the neighborhood baseball-playing kids are in an intense competition to win the chance to meet Clemente in person. But when their hero helps natural disaster victims in Nicaragua, his fateful off-field actions teach the kids about what is more important than winning. Book and Lyrics by Karen Zacarías (“Native Gardens”) Learn more about the show, cast, and production team by reading over the digital show program and by listening to this WHUP Lights Up interview from May 1 (begins at 15:10 mark). Additionally, our Education Programs Specialist, Kasey McFerren, created a curriculum guide to go along with the production. This is a great resource to provide context for the play’s setting and characters and to spark conversation before and after seeing the play. With discussion questions for either the classroom or home, this guide will help young theatregoers continue their learning long after the cast takes their bows. Access the curriculum guide here! Tickets Looking for Roberto Clemente runs weekends May 4-12 in RLT’s outdoor Stephenson Amphitheatre. Showtimes are Saturdays and Sundays at 1pm and 4pm. Run time is approximately 75 minutes, including a brief “seventh inning stretch.” The May 11 performance at 1pm is sensory-friendly, and audio description will be offered during the May 12 performance at 4pm. Tickets start at $14. Call our box office at 919-821-3111 or visit our website to get your tickets today! Sponsors We’d like to thank First Citizens Bank and Triangle Family Magazine for their support of Looking for Roberto Clemente. Raleigh Little Theatre is funded in part by the City of Raleigh based on recommendations of the Raleigh Arts Commission. Looking for Roberto Clemente is supported by the United Arts Council of Raleigh and Wake County, as well as the N.C. Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources. |
